Why Do Some People Wish the Attack on Smollett Happened?

Why Do Some People Wish the Attack on Smollett Happened? The reactions of many on the left to the case of Jussie Smollett prove two important things: 1. There is little racism in America. 2. The Left -- white and black -- is morally and psychologically impaired. There is no doubt that most Americans on the left, including black Americans, are distraught over the fact that Smollett faked the “racist” attack on him. Apparently leftists, Democratic leaders, and, most depressingly, many of his fellow blacks wish Smollett had been attacked by white racist homophobes.Representative Eric Swalwell (D., Calif.), a white leftist, tweeted, “I hope this was not something that Mr. Smollett did to himself, or created.”Washington Post columnist Jonathan Capehart told MSNBC there has been “an atmosphere of menace and hate” since Donald Trump was elected president, which made “people want to believe” Smollett’s story. Exactly. Capehart, a black leftist, wanted to believe that racists yelling “This is MAGA country” beat up blacks.Another black leftist who writes hate columns for the Washington Post, Nana Efua Mumford, wrote: “I wanted to believe Smollett. I really did.” Again, exactly. Mumford wanted to believe that racists yelling “This is MAGA country” beat up blacks.Corey Townsend, the social-media editor of The Root, a black-oriented website (founded in 2008 by Harvard black-studies scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr.), opened his column on his private doubts that Smollett was attacked as he claimed with the words, “I wanted to be wrong.” Three paragraphs later: “But still, I wanted to be wrong.”This should tell you a great deal about how morally and psychologically sick the Left is. And their reactions prove how little racism there really is in America. Here’s the proof of both these assertions: When American Jews, even most left-wing Jews, heard of the mass killing of Jews at a Pittsburgh synagogue, how many were hoping the shooter was truly an anti-Semite, and how many were hoping he was a mentally deranged individual who could have just as easily shot up a church? Or, if a well-known Jew had been beaten at 2 a.m. on a Chicago street, how many American Jews would have wanted the attackers to be Jew-haters, and how many would have wished they were just thugs who wanted money? As a Jew who has been deeply involved in Jewish culture all my life, I am pretty certain the majority of Jews -- certainly liberal and conservative Jews, and even most left-wing Jews -- would have wished that neither the Pittsburgh synagogue nor the theoretical attack on a Chicago street I conjured up were perpetrated by anti-Semites.Why is that? Why do almost all Jews wish attackers of Jews not be anti-Semites, but so many blacks and so many white leftists wish Smollett had been attacked by racists?Because Jews want to believe there is little anti-Semitism in America while most black leftists and most white leftists want to believe there is a lot of racism in America. And why is that? Because the Left and many American blacks are politically and personally dependent on one of the greatest mass libels in history -- namely, that America is a racist country. If just one one of five black Americans woke up tomorrow and announced, “You know, this a great country for anyone, including a black person, to live in, and the truth is the vast majority of white Americans bear no ill will toward blacks (or any other race or ethnicity),” that would end the Democrats’ chances of winning national elections. The Democratic party is dependent on nearly universal black acceptance of the leftist libel of America. And what about the personal? Why do so many black Americans, living in the freest country for all its citizens -- and in the least-racist multiracial, multiethnic country in history -- want to believe America is racist? That is one of the most important questions all Americans need to address at this time. And there is another one, which I posed in my column last week: Does the Left believe its own lies?

How To Write A Good Resume for Applicant Tracking Systems

How To Write A Good Resume for Applicant Tracking SystemsWhen you submit your credentials online, they are often screened by an applicant tracking system. The applicant tracking system resume evaluation algorithm scans your materials for resume keywords related to the job description, looking for work experience and education that match what the position calls for. This means an effective resume is one that plays the applicant tracking system game well but also appeals to the human reviewer who will hopefully examine it, too.

India Launches Airstrike Into Pakistani Territory in Response to Terror Attack

India Launches Airstrike Into Pakistani Territory in Response to Terror AttackIndia launched an airstrike against a terrorist training camp in Pakistani territory early Tuesday morning in response to a recent terrorist attack carried out in the disputed border region of Kashmir.Indian authorities claim the attack killed a “very large number” of fighters but Pakistani officials maintain that no one was killed in the strike.“Acting on intelligence, India early today stuck the biggest training camp of Jaish-e-Mohammad in Balakot,” India’s foreign secretary, Vijay Gokhale ,told reporters in New Dehli, according to the Associated Press. “In this operation a very large number of Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists, trainers, senior commanders and jihadis being trained were eliminated.”The attack was launched in response to a suicide bombing that killed 40 Indian soldiers on February 14 in Kashmir, a disputed territory that lies between Pakistan and Indian that both countries claim as their own.Pakistani terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad claimed responsibility for the attack, which was carried out by a member who lived in a section of Kashmir that remains under Indian control. Pakistani officials have denied any involvement in the attack and vowed to respond to any provocation by India.Chinese officials urged the two nuclear powers to show restraint and maintain stability in the region.“We hope that both India and Pakistan can … take actions that will help stabilize the situation in the region and help to improve mutual relations, instead of the other way around,” China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang told reporters.Tensions between the two nations continue to escalate as Indian officials routinely accuse Pakistan of providing safe haven and support to terrorist groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammad, a group that contests India's territorial claims in Kashmir through violent attacks. Pakistan has, however, officially outlawed the group and seized some of its property.

Justin Fairfax made the controversial statements during a surprise speech on Sunday, lashing out against his critics in the state Senate as 2019 legislative session was coming to a close. “I’ve heard much about anti-lynching on the floor of this very Senate, where people were not given any due process whatsoever, and we rue that,” Mr Fairfax said, referencing legislation the General Assembly passed expressing “profound regret” for lynchings in Virginia between 1877 and 1950.

I mean I’ll be real honest, if Obama had done this Republicans would be going nuts. That’s just the reality. Even if Obama had the authority to do it just like I think President Trump does.”> > -- Erica Werner (@ericawerner) February 26, 2019Simpson's comments came ahead of a House vote on a resolution that would block Trump's national-emergency declaration. Simpson has previously criticized Trump's decision to declare a national emergency in response to congressional Democrats' refusal to provide the $5.7 he had demanded for a border wall.“It’s not the way to do it. I can understand why they’re looking at it,” Simpson told the Washington Post. “I don’t like the idea of pulling money out of defense and military construction and the Army Corps of Engineers. That’s not a good option.”Simpson has not, however, committed to backing the resolution blocking the emergency declaration. The resolution is expected to pass the House and Senate with the support of Republican representative Justin Amash of Michigan and Republican senators Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine.Trump has vowed to veto any attempt by Congress to end the national emergency, at which point congressional Democrats would have to secure two-thirds majorities in the House and Senate to override the veto.A number of other Republican lawmakers, including Senators Ben Sasse of Nebraska, John Cornyn of Texas, and Marco Rubio of Florida, have joined Simpson in criticizing the emergency declaration while refusing to support a resolution that would end it. Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have endorsed the national-emergency declaration as an appropriate response to Democratic obstruction.

Syria force carries out major evacuation from last IS holdoutUS-backed forces evacuated over 40 truckloads of people from the Islamic State group's last Syria redoubt on Monday, as they sought to clear out civilians before a final push to crush the jihadists. The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have slowed down their offensive on the final pocket due to the presence of civilians, with just a scrap of the IS "caliphate" remaining from a territory that once spanned Syria and Iraq. An AFP correspondent saw more than 46 trucks crammed with men, women and children, approaching an SDF outpost, 20 kilometres (12 miles) north of the jihadist redoubt.

India launches air strike in Pakistan; Islamabad denies militant camp hitPakistan said it would respond at a time and place of its choice, with a military spokesman even alluding to its nuclear arsenal, highlighting the escalation in hostile rhetoric from both two sides since a suicide bombing in Kashmir this month. The spokesman said a command and control authority meeting, which decides over the use of nuclear weapons, had been convened for Wednesday, adding: "You all know what that means." The air strike near Balakot, a town 50 km (30 miles) from the frontier, was the deepest cross-border raid launched by India since the last of its three wars with Pakistan in 1971 but there were competing claims about any damage caused. The Indian government, facing an election in the coming months, said the air strikes hit a training camp belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), the group that claimed a suicide car bomb attack that killed at least 40 Indian paramilitary police in Kashmir on Feb. 14.

Weekend beauty highlights from Milan Fashion Week

Weekend beauty highlights from Milan Fashion WeekMilan Fashion Week put a sophisticated spin on catwalk beauty over the weekend, mixing quirky details with tried-and-tested classics for Fall/Winter 2019. At Giorgio Armani the hair was twisted and pinned in rope-like coils to the head, for a child-like, textured look that was exacerbated by spiky, doll-like lashes and rosy pink lips. At Missoni a peach-hued blusher was dabbed high on the cheekbones for a flushed look that was teamed with a nude, glossy lip and -- in supermodel Bella Hadid's case -- shiny, tidy bangs.

New England Patriots owner, Robert Kraft charged with soliciting prostitution

New England Patriots owner, Robert Kraft charged with soliciting prostitutionRobert Kraft, one of the most powerful figures in US sport, has been charged with two counts of soliciting prostitution. Mr Kraft, the owner of Super Bowl winners New England Patriots, is one of 25 people facing similar charges following a lengthy investigation into human trafficking and money laundering across Florida. The 77-year-old sports magnate could, in theory, face a year in jail if convicted. However, announcing the misdemeanour charges, Palm Beach County state attorney Dave Aronberg said a custodial sentence was unlikely for a first time offender. Those convicted also face a mandatory $5,000 fine and being required to perform 100 hours of community service and attend a class on the dangers of prostitution and human trafficking. A spokesman for Mr Kraft said that he categorically denies the charges. People mill around in front of the Orchids of Asia Day Spa in Jupiter, Florida Credit: Joe Raedle/Getty Given that the charges have been classified as a misdemeanour, Mr Kraft will be able to send a lawyer to represent him rather than making a personal court appearance at the hearing which is scheduled for April 24. It is alleged that police surveillance videos filmed Mr Kraft making two visits to the Orchids of Asia Day Spa in Jupiter, Florida. The spa was one of several strip mall massage parlours targeted by police across Florida in a crackdown on human trafficking. "These cases aren't about any one defendant or any group of defendants," added Mr Aronberg. "The larger picture which we must all confront is the cold reality that many prostitutes in cases like this are, themselves, victims, often lured into this country with promises of a better life only to be forced to live and work in a sweatshop or a brothel, performing sex acts for strangers." Mr Kraft, who has a net worth estimated at $6.6 billion, could face sanctions from the NFL, with a spokesman saying its code of conduct applied equally to everybody involved with the league.

Weak investment climate main 5G risk, not security fears: EricssonEurope risks falling behind other regions in rolling out 5G mobile services because of onerous regulation and weak investment rather than any security concerns about Chinese equipment, Ericsson CEO Borje Ekholm said on Monday. High spectrum fees, regulatory uncertainty and a lack of investment were more pressing concerns, Ekholm said, alluding to calls by the United States to ban Chinese network vendors on national security grounds. "The debate here often becomes: it's the lack of technology for operators, that's what slowed down Europe.
